A couple of weeks ago, a homeowner in Redding, CT, contacted us. Unfortunately, she was very unhappy because the once-luxurious limestone floor in her absolutely lovely home had now been damaged by deep etch marks throughout its surface. She asked her building contractor for advice, and he recommended Sir Grout of Greater Fairfield County as one of the top hard surface restoration companies with high quality craftsmanship. After that, she went online to check out our website. When she read the compelling customer reviews and testimonials, she contacted Sir Grout of Greater Fairfield County with no regrets whatsoever. She was confident that we would be the best Redding stone honing company for the meticulous job of honing and repairing her precious investment. Click on the video below to see how we were able to transform this limestone floor!
When Sir Grout of Fairfield's expert stone honing team arrived at the Redding customer's home, they formulated a plan after assessing the level of damage on the limestone floor. Just as we expected, the limestone floor suffered both physical and chemical damage. As it can be seen in the beginning of the video, she did have a beautifully glossy limestone floor. Even if it was rather difficult to see, there were some etch marks, water spots and some damage throughout the entire floor. Since the homeowner had some pets, the uric acid from their little accidents had etched the floor in several places.
After we explained that we had to mitigate the effects of etching damage and acid to restore the limestone floor, she asked us to hone it to an elegant matte finish. Our team would use a proprietary, tested and proven honing process involving proper stone-friendly chemicals and buffering tools to grind down the damaged layer of stone. As it can be seen in the middle of the video, there was a huge etch mark right in the center of the tile. The technician explained that this is the same kind of etch mark that was found all over the limestone floor. Unluckily, this is the kind of serious damage that can be seen on limestone floors due to acid. It's imperative to take proper care of your stone floors in order to avoid this kind of damage.
As it can be seen at the end of the video, our team of skilled technicians honed the floor and spent some time giving the finish that the customer wanted: a honed finish. Therefore, they took away the gloss that was seen at first and imparted a honed finish, or a matte finish, on the limestone floor. When the work was done, we reminded her that she needed to be extremely careful because some things you wouldn't expect to find their way on the floor, like tomato juice, can etch the stone. Furthermore, we also explained that juices and fruits that contain citric acid can damage the floor as well. Before we left we put two coats of sealant on it to help protect against future damage. We also gave her our special pH neutral soapless cleaner and discussed and provided instructions directly to her housekeeper on how to properly maintain the floor's beautiful new matte look, which can be seen in the "after" photo below!
The customer was ecstatic with the impressive results! She received exactly what she was expecting and much, much more - a service as professional and results as amazing as we had promised. It always fills our hearts with joy to see the smiles in homeowners' faces when they see the kind of work we're capable of doing, bringing the luxury back to their floors, making their homes a little bit better once again. Sir Grout of Greater Fairfield County had another happy customer in Redding, and another beloved friend!
